Possible prologue? Thinking of expanding to four books, but I'll let you know when I finish chapter 1.

"And we must let it be known that we, the people, will not stand for this! We pay them our very souls that they should protect our city, and they have failed in this. Children are hungry, because food rations go down almost every week now. They tell us nothing. Last week, every street lamp went out at once and the river froze before our eyes. They told us nothing. We are in the midst of the harshest winter Kota has ever known, and they have told us nothing! If we do not act now, it will be a slippery slope down into the depths of oppression and hunger. That is why I propose to you that we elect the girl who can change this, who can become a Wielder and speak for us in Parliament, the independent candidate for Nerel - Sena Wesk!"

Magic

My magic system is going nicely =D

Aura magic - Air, movement, instant transportation, control temperatures. People with strong aura magic often have very weak auras, but once their magic is activated they can control their aura.
Thought magic - Fire, persuasiveness and mind control. People with strong thought magic are especially good leaders.
Heart magic - Water, understanding, empathy and mind reading of especially strong thoughts. People with strong heart magic are typically very selfless and kind, and make excellent friends.
Life magic - Earth, physical strength and agility, longevity, shape shifting. Only people with very strong life magic can activate their magic to shape shift, and this is extremely rare.

All magic is transferable between willing participants, but the ability to use magic for different purposes is genetic. Everyone has some ability to use magic, and some magic of their own, for as long as they live. If someone's thought magic is weak they are shy, if someone's heart magic is weak then they are thoughtless, and if someone's life magic is weak then they are clumsy. Children born without the ability to use life magic soon die.

Aura magic and life magic are opposites - people especially strong in one are usually weak in the other. Thought magic and heart magic are also opposites.

I promise, this won't all be in the story. I just need to have it straight in my head. This is going to be good :D

Christmas book

So, my sister and I decided that for my parents this Christmas, we'd publish them a book. A couple of paperbacks off lulu, full of family memories and stuff copied from the scrapbook.

The first part of this book is going to be a new version of a story my little sister wrote when she was seven. In the original, she ran off with her friend when I was trapped in an alternate reality forever as an evil witch :/ But in the new one, we're friends in the end :)

I need something the pressure me into keeping going with the writing, because I always forget how much fun it is until I start.

I made word cloud based on my character descriptions, as I'm not feeling brave enough to put them online without further editing. It's looking good though, although the plot is vague at best.
